Overview
This 11-day New Zealand tour begins in Auckland, where you’ll have the chance to explore the city’s landmarks before heading to the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set and then on to Rotorua to experience the region’s geothermal wonders and Maori culture. The journey continues with a flight to Christchurch, followed by scenic train travel across the Canterbury Plains on the Tranz Alpine. In Greymouth, explore the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, before heading to Franz Josef and experiencing the stunning landscapes of Glacier Country.
The tour then takes you to Queenstown, where you’ll visit Milford Sound for a spectacular fjord cruise and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. With optional activities such as gondola rides and scenic tours, Queenstown offers endless exploration. The final leg of the trip includes a scenic drive through the Mackenzie District, with stops at Mt. Cook and the Church of the Good Shepherd before returning to Christchurch for your departure. Day 1: Arrive Auckland
- Arrive in Auckland.
- Transfer to accommodation for check in.
- Overnight in Auckland.
Day 2: Auckland – Hobbiton – Rotorua
- Tour to the rolling green hills to the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set.
- After exploring Hobbiton, lunch in the Party Marquee.
- Continue to Rotorua.
Day 3: Rotorua
- Transported to Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland for a two-hour visit.
- In the evening, transported to Te Puia including a buffet dinner and cultural performance.
- The evening culminates with hot chocolate and pudding on the geyser terrace.
- Overnight Rotorua
Day 4: Rotorua – Christchurch (Flight not included)
- Depart on your domestic flight to Christchurch (airfare not included).
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 5: Christchurch – Greymouth
- Transported to the Christchurch Railway Station for the Tranz Alpine train crossing the vast expanses of the Canterbury Plains.
- On arrival in Greymouth, transferred to the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes for a short self-guided walk.
- Transfer to accommodation.

Day 6: Greymouth – Franz Josef
- This morning, transferred to Shantytown Heritage Park.
- Transfer to Glacier Country.

Day 7: Franz Josef – Queenstown
- Transfer through wilderness towns, waterfalls, and river scenery on the journey to Queenstown.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 8: Queenstown
- Free day to add some of the endless optional activities on offer.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 9: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Queenstown
- Today’s stunning tour takes you past mirror lakes and waterfalls into Milford Sound.
- On arrival, board your vessel for a cruise of the fiord surrounded by towering mountains and cliffs.
- After a big day out, return to downtown Queenstown.
- Lunch is included.
- Overnight in Queenstown.
Day 10: Queenstown – Mt Cook / Tekapo – Christchurch
- Departs Queenstown through the stunning Kawarau Gorge and fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell.
- Follows a beautiful Lake Dunstan and meanders through the dramatic Lindis Pass.
- Travel the vast plains of the Mackenzie district, alongside magnificent turquoise blue lakes, framed by Aoraki Mt Cook and the spectacular Southern Alps to Mt Cook Village where you have some free time.
- Make a stop close to the popular Church of the Good Shepherd before continuing through the amazing countryside to Christchurch.
- Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 11: Depart Christchurch
- Transfer to airport for departure.
