Itinerary
Stop at Batu Caves (At 8.30am: Pick up at hotel lobby and transfer to batu cave)
- Batu Caves remained little known outside the local community until 1878, when American naturalist William Temple Hornaday brought them to wider attention.
- The following year, in 1892, the site hosted its first Thaipusam celebration, a Tamil Hindu festival dedicated to Murugan. Today, it is a major event that attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually.
- At their base stands a 140-foot (42.7-meter) gold-painted statue of
Murugan, made of reinforced concrete. A steep 272-step staircase leads to the largest chamber, Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave. - Along the way, macaques frequently approach visitors in search of food. Within the cave lies the largest of several temples on the site, making Batu Caves a significant religious and cultural landmark.
Continue transfer to Royal Selangor
- The School of Hard Knocks at Royal Selangor offers a unique hands-on experience where participants can step into the shoes of a pewter smith.
- Using traditional tools such as hammers and wooden molds, you’ll craft your own pewter dish under the guidance of skilled instructors.
- This engaging workshop is held at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, home to one of the world’s most renowned pewter brands.
- Along the way, you’ll also learn about the history of pewter and the legacy of Royal Selangor.
- At the end of the session, each participant gets to take home their personally crafted pewter piece, along with a certificate of participation—making it both a meaningful keepsake and a fun memory.
- After tour transfer back to Kuala Lumpur hotel.
